Simple Watermelon Energizer

watermelonWith watermelons getting ready to burst into the market and stores I can’t wait to scoop them up and make my all-time favorite and easiest energizer.  There is something about having an ice cold watermelon energizer on a warm day.

Watermelon is a powerhouse melon providing healthy doses of almost all essential vitamins and minerals. One wedge provides over 30% of your daily dose of Vitamins A and C.  Vitamin B6, pantothenic acid and thiamin are also provided in significant amounts.  Mixing this sweet fruit with fresh greens helps to decrease the sugar impact while still carrying the wonderful crisp flavor of the watermelon.

The brightness red interior offers beta-carotene and lycopene, both of which provide cancer fighting benefits.  The calories you ingest are easily burned off due to the high water content and easy digestibility of the drink.  If you are encouraging others to try raw smoothies, this is a good one to start with.  Its crisp and sweet flavor is sure to please even the pickiest of samplers.

Ingredients and Directions:

  • 2/3 total amount is watermelon
  • 1/3 total amount is spinach or other mild green
  • Place in blender and blend.  No water needed.

That’s it!  I like mine really cold, so chill it up, blend and drink immediately.  Then get ready for a healthy burst of pure energy.  Enjoy!
